ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

STEPS has an exciting opportunity for an Employment Consultant to work in Bundaberg, QLD, on a full time basis.

The purpose of this role will be to assist individuals with disability, injury or ill-health to secure and maintain sustainable employment in the open labour market.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the case file of each job seeker to achieve individual performance goals and contribute to overall effectiveness of the DES program;
  • Conducting a skills assessment to develop an employment pathway, including assessments and interventions to identify/address vocational barriers, educational achievements, skills gaps, and job search activities;
  • Providing flexible assistance to address vocational and non-vocational barriers to develop the Participant in order to find, gain or remain in sustainable employment; and
  • Providing appropriate post placement and/or on-going support to maximize employment outcomes.

To be successful in this role, you will be a highly skilled communicator, with the ability to liaise and build relationships with a variety of stakeholders ideally with qualifications at the Certificate level or higher in Employment, Disability Services or similar. Sensitivity and patience will also be essential, and any previous experience working with disadvantaged groups will be highly regarded.

Candidates with a background in Disability Employment Services or Youth Employment would be highly suitable for this role and will consequently hold an understanding of current employment issues relating to people with a disability. This is also an excellent opportunity for an HR/Employment professionals looking for a more rewarding experience with an NFP organisation.

Please note:

  • To be eligible for this role you must hold a current Driver's License. 
  • You will be required to undertake a Criminal History Check and Working with Children and/or Vulnerable Persons Check. This can be organised through STEPS.
