ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
STEPS has an exciting opportunity for an Employment Consultant with experience in mental health to join their Bundaberg team on a full time contract basis to March, 2018.
The primary purpose of this role will be to assist individuals with a disability or mental health illness to secure and maintain sustainable employment in the open labour market. You will plan and organise your own duties, as well as contributing to team performance.
Specific responsibilities will include:
- Case managing each job seeker in accordance with contractual requirements within STEPS Service Delivery Model to achieve individual performance goals and contribute to overall effectiveness of the Disability Employment Service, DMS program;
- Conducting a participant skills assessment to determine a job plan which will include appropriate assessments and interventions to identify and address vocational barriers, educational achievements, skills gaps and job search activities;
- Reverse marketing job seekers to secure sustainable employment;
- Providing appropriate post placement and/or on-going support to maximize participant employment outcomes; and
- Consistently sharing knowledge, information and resources with team members to assist a high performing site which operates in compliance with relevant legislation, contracts, guidelines and policies and procedures.
To be successful in this role you must have demonstrated experience with an employment service provider delivering training in the workplace. Candidates with a background in disability employment services or mental health services will be highly regarded. In addition, qualifications at a Certificate level (or higher) in mental health, employment or disability is a requirement for this role.
